A few months ago, Josh decided to try out racing off-road trucks as a hobby. Back before I knew Josh, he was a very good motocross dirt bike rider and was in many races and won quite a few of them. He absolutely loved it, but it was rough on his body. He broke numerous bones, his back being the most serious. He also popped his hip out of the socket and still has problems with it today. About a year or two before I met him he broke his femur when he wrecked during a race. He had to be taken by flight for life to a hospital and had emergency surgery where he got a metal rod put in his leg. After that, racing was kind of done for him. He definitely has missed it and has been building an off-road truck just for fun. He decided recently that since racing a truck was much safer than a dirt bike he would try out the whole racing thing again. Many, many long nights of working on his truck with some help from friends along the way and Josh finished it just in time for the Midnight Run Race in Primm at Stateline. It was a 2 night race. He was so nervous and was hoping to just finish the race. He finished the race and placed 7th out of 15! Not bad for his first ever truck race. He would have finished better but on the 2nd night he was t-boned and got a flat tire : ( He lost a lot of time but somehow still finished the race. He's of course already planning what to work on next on the truck to get it ready for his next race in December.
Josh with some of his buddies/pit crew. All the boys had a blast.
Josh is working on ordering some better action shots of the race from a company. This is the best I could do. His truck looked great out there and was super fast.
Thank goodness Tosha was there! Otherwise I would have been hanging out with the pit crew the whole time. We hung out, wandered around, ate, and my favorite...went shopping over the course of the weekend together. Races are SO much more fun with girlfriends there that's for sure!
Tosha's two boys Mason and Caden were with us during the race and our cameras (and some junk food too) is what saved us from dealing with two crazy sleepy kids all night. Their pictures mostly consisted of the ground, the fence, and a few headlights. These two pictures are of the fabulous photographers...I think Caden took both of these pictures : )
